The short version: we collect what we need to run PedalWire and your account. We never sell your information and we don't show ads. Analytics cookies are off unless you accept them. You can ask us to see, fix or delete your data at any time by emailing support@pedalwire.com.
Who we are
PedalWire (the app at app.pedalwire.com and the site at www.pedalwire.com) is operated by Encompass Consulting Group ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal information described here. Questions go to support@pedalwire.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address and how you sign in (email and password, an emailed code or link, or Google, Microsoft or Facebook). Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and stored only in hashed form; we never see them.
- Profile: a username, display name, picture and bio, if you choose to add them.
- What you create: pedalboards, your gear list, Quad Cortex chains and presets, saved settings and preferences, and boards you share with the community.
- Messages to our AI features: what you type into the Rig Builder, Tone Match, Tone Coach, QC Assistant and similar tools, plus any photos you submit for pedal recognition.
- Audio you upload: songs or recordings you add to My Audio for practice, analysis or stem separation. These files are private to your account.
- Payments: if you subscribe or buy credits, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your card details. We never see or store your card number; we keep your plan, subscription status and credit balance.
- Setlist polls: if a band admin adds you as a voter, the poll stores the name and email address the admin entered, plus your votes.
Information collected automatically
- Usage records for AI features: each AI request is logged with your account id, the feature used, what you sent and what came back, and the processing cost. We use this for billing, to keep the service working well, and to prevent abuse.
- Analytics, only if you accept: with your consent, Google Analytics records pages visited, sign-up and sign-in events and general device information, linked to an internal account number (never your email). If you decline or don't answer, the analytics script is not loaded at all.
How we use your information
- To provide PedalWire: save your boards and gear, run AI features, process your audio, and keep you signed in.
- To handle billing and credits.
- To send poll emails on behalf of a band admin, when you are a setlist poll voter.
- To understand how PedalWire is used and improve it (analytics, only with your consent).
- To keep the service secure and prevent misuse.
We do not sell or rent personal information, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't share it for cross-site tracking.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to run PedalWire. They receive only what they need to do their job for us.
| Provider | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Your account, saved content and uploaded audio | Database, sign-in and file storage |
| Anthropic (Claude) | Your messages to AI features, the board, gear or song context they need, and photos you submit | Powers the AI features. Some features let the AI search the web to answer you. |
| Music.ai | Audio you choose to analyze or split into stems, through a short-lived private link | Audio analysis and stem separation |
| Voyage AI | Cropped photos of pedals you submit | Matching a photo to a pedal in our catalog |
| Tavily | Search terms built from your tone requests (for example an artist or song name) | Web research for tone matching |
| Stripe | Your email, account id and the plan or credits you buy | Payments |
| Spotify | Only if you connect your account: we read your playlists, top items and saved library | Suggesting songs to practice. The connection stays in your browser and you can disconnect it at any time. |
| Analytics data (only if you accept), song searches on YouTube, and font requests from the marketing site | Analytics, finding song videos, fonts. Embedded videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. | |
| Resend | Voter names, email addresses and poll details | Sending setlist poll emails |
| GitHub Pages, Vercel | Standard web request information, such as your IP address | Hosting the app and website |
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the service. If PedalWire is ever sold or merged, your information would transfer under this policy.
Cookies and browser storage
- pw_consent: remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies, for 12 months, across pedalwire.com and app.pedalwire.com.
- Google Analytics cookies (
_ga,_ga_*): set only after you accept, and removed if you later decline. - Browser storage: the app keeps your sign-in session, preferences, recent AI chats and similar settings in your browser so it works quickly. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Change your analytics choice at any time with Cookie settings in the app's profile menu or in the website footer.
How long we keep it
- Account information and the content you create are kept while your account is active.
- Audio or analysis runs you delete move to Recently deleted for 10 days, then are permanently removed, including derived files and analysis.
- If your account is deleted, AI usage and billing records may be kept for accounting and security, no longer linked to your account.
Your choices and rights
- See or correct your data: most of it is visible and editable in the app. For anything else, email us.
- Delete your account: email support@pedalwire.com from the address on your account and we will delete it and its content.
- Analytics: decline, or change your choice later in Cookie settings.
- Spotify: disconnect at any time from your profile menu.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights, such as getting a copy of your data, objecting to some uses, or complaining to your local data protection authority. Email us to use any of them; we will not treat you differently for doing so.
Security
Your data is sent over encrypted connections. Uploaded audio is stored privately and shared with processors only through short-lived links, and access to your saved content is restricted to your account. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Where your data is processed
PedalWire and most of its providers operate in the United States, so your information may be processed there, even if you live elsewhere.
Children
PedalWire is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top of this page.
